Vacation Training Programme on
Bioresources for School Children
25th April - 19th May 2010
The National Bioresources Development Board, Department of
Biotechnology Government of India has nominated MCRC as one among the institutes
to conduct the “Vacation Training Programme on Bioresources for School
Children”. The main aim of the programme is to inculcate among the school
children on identification, importance, management and conservation of
bioresources. The programme will be organized from 25th April 2010 to 19th
May 2010 at Shri M.V. Arunachalam Technology Resource Centre, Vadakadambadi
Mahabalipuram. Thirty students from 15 schools in puducherry & karaikkal are
participating in this residential programme.
The course has been designed in line with the guidelines put
forth by national Bioresources Development Board, DBT. This programme will
provide students an extensive exposure on conservation and management of
biodiversity with an academic attitude by stimulating reflective, independent
and creative thinking. The students will be motivated to involve in the research
in bioresources through the programmes comprised of organized lectures,
interactive sessions with scientists, laboratory sessions, field visits, nature
trails, audio visuals shows, computer sessions and web page creation on
bioresources.
The presentation of the leading scientists, external and
internal resource persons will be compiled and issued to the students as
technology and resource manuals to enable them to understand and refer the
subject matter that are elaborated during the presentations/ seminars.
The programme will be inaugurated by Shri.
T. N. Srinivasamoorthy, Director,
Department of Environment, Government of Tamilnadu and
officials from Education Department, Government of Puducherry will also
participate in this residential programme.
