Workshop on Alternative
Analytical Technology for soil nutrient analysis (AAT)
Workshop on “Alternative
Analytical Technology for soil nutrient analysis (AAT)” was
organized during from 25th to 27th November 2011.
The notification
inviting nominations were sent to various institution, agriculture
colleges, universities and NGO’s in India and received about 30
applications of which 28 participants were invited to attend the
workshop. The workshop aimed at identifying suitable organizations
for establishment of soil testing laboratories equipped with AAT
for the benefit of millions of farmers in India.
Twenty five
participants representing from various agriculture colleges,
universities, research centre and NGO’s from India were
participated in the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.
G. J. Samathanam Advisor and Head, Technology system Development
and Transfer, Department of Science Technology, New Delhi and
addressed gathering highlighting the importance of integrated
farming so as to produce healthy and quality foods. The three days
workshop programme scheduled with qualitative analysis of food,
soil and manure products through different image forming
techniques and quantitative analysis of soil by AAT method.
The participants did
the soil testing procedure through AAT on their own and all the
participants were actively participated. Participants interacted
with the Dr.K.Perumal (Deputy Director, R&D and Admin),
Dr.S.Seshadri (Director, R&D) and Mr.K.Raghunanthan, IT Head,
Murugappa Group one of the review committee members of MCRC.
