PRODUCTION :
Bio-Butanol is produced from strictly anaerobic fermentation by Clostridium acetobutylicum using molasses or cornmeal as substrate. Diesel like liquid obtained from materials of Biological Origin is known as Bio -Diesel. Plants and Algae produce lipids and hydrocarbon which serve as a source of Bio-Diesel.
The plant species accuimulate Hydrocarbons in the form of latex that can be used as fuel.Such plants include members of Euphorbiacea [Euphorbia latyris] ,Milkweeds[Asclepias sp.]and a leguminous tropical tree [Capaifera multijuga ].Some fresh water and marine algae are known to accumulate hydrocarbons as much as 75% of the biomass.
