INTRODUCTION

Plants efficiently use energy and convert CO2 into biomass. Biomass is the total cellular dry weight or organic matter produced by the living organisms that can be used as a source of energy. In fact, biomass is the only available energy source to man until the development of fossil fuels like coal and oil. Rapid decline of fossil fuel resources necessitated the search for alternative sources of energy. Biological organisms have the ability to convert Biomass into fuels such as Methane, Ethanol, Butanol, Biodiesel, Hydrogen. The fuels produced through biological means are referred as Biofuels. They are less expensive , non-polluting, eco-friendly renewable resources generally produced by utilizing waste materials or municipal waste.
