Hello friends ! welcome to my website. I would like to test your knowledge . Do you have any idea about amphibians .Could you guess what the word amphibian means....... Yes! you guessed it right .The word amphibian means more or less literally 'double life'. The typical amphibian spends the first part of its life in water and its adult life on land. There are both salamanders and occasional toads that live their whole lives in water , example being the salamander known as the olm and the surinam toad. Conversely there are frogs ,the Stephens island frog of New Zealand being one, that lay their eggs on land. The Stephen island frog lives among boulders and its eggs are laid on damp earth. From them hatch fully formed froglets, the tadpole stage having been passed within the egg membrane. |
