What is birds migration?

Lands borough Thomson, an eminent authority , describes birds migration as "Changes of habitat periodically recurring and alternating the direction, which tend to secure optimum environmental condition at all times". The periodic movements of locust swarms for example, loosely referred to as migration. Thus they differ markedly from the seasonal return traffic of birds.

Its extents and advantage:

On account of their special attributes warm-bloodness,feather covering and unlabelled power of flight-the phenomenon of migration find it's highest development in birds. Although directly they are the least affected of all animals by extremes of heat and cold, it is the difficulties connected with food getting under adverse winter conditions that compel them to change their quarters or perish. Migration enables birds to inhabit to different areas at the respective season. It involves swing from a breeding or nesting place. In artic winter the birds travels south right across the world to the Antarctic summer and back again-a distance of over 17,000km each way.
