Snakes

Snakes are a kind of reptiles related to lizards, crocodiles and turtles. There are about 2700 different kinds of snakes, but only 300 or so are able to kill people. All snakes have long bodies covered with waterproof scales. They are flesh eaters and swallow their prey whole. Snakes have always had a special place in myths and legends, being used as symbols both good and evil.
