MINOR ACOELOMATE PHYLA

These phyla have a solid body construction in which the space between the digestive track and the body wall is filled with Mesenchyma or Parenchyma. It is a sort of packing tissue consisting of a network of connective tissue fibre, anastomosing cells and fluid-filled spaces. It serves for assimilation , transportation , respiration  and excretion. As there is no coelom or body cavity , like platyhelminthes , these groups are termed as acoelomates. This includes:

1.Mesozoa

2.Ctenopora

3.Nemertinia.
